Our jewelry is made to be worn, but also to stand the test of time. With a few simple habits, you can reduce wear, protect the finish and maintain their shine. Below you will find practical guidelines for everyday use, cleaning and storage.
TO KEEP THEIR SHINE FROM THE FIRST DAY
What to Avoid
-
Water and moisture: bathing, sea water, swimming pool, sauna.
-
Perfume, hairspray, creams, sunscreen: they leave a film that dulls the surface.
-
Chlorine and cleaning products: they are harsh on metals and plated finishes.
-
Sweat and high temperatures: they speed up oxidation and dullness.
-
Friction: with keys, coins or other jewelry in the same bag.
-
Gym and manual work: impacts, bending, scratches.
-
Sleep: fabric and movement cause micro damage and bending.
-
Loose storage: knots in chains, scratches, breakage.
Rule we always keep: first we get dressed and apply fragrance, and the jewelry goes on last.
Daily Care
-
After wearing, gently wipe with a soft, dry cloth preferably microfiber.
-
If it comes into contact with cream or perfume, leave it for 2 to 3 minutes and then wipe it gently without pressure.
How to Clean Them Properly
For most jewelry pieces, meaning metals without delicate stones:
-
In a bowl, add lukewarm water and a few drops of mild soap.
-
Leave the jewelry in the solution for 2 to 3 minutes.
-
Clean gently with a very soft toothbrush or cloth without pressure.
-
Rinse quickly with clean lukewarm water.
-
Dry it very well with a soft cloth.
Avoid: kitchen paper, since it may scratch fine surfaces, abrasive sponges and strong cleaning products.
Special Cases
Plated jewelry: such as gold plated and silver plated pieces is more sensitive to friction. Clean only with a soft cloth and keep the process as dry as possible.
Silver: oxidation, meaning blackening, is natural. With frequent wiping and proper storage, we reduce the effect.
Pearls: care for them only with a dry, soft cloth. Avoid soaking and chemicals.
Jewelry with stones, crystals or glued elements: avoid too much water and soaking, because the bonds may loosen.
If we are not sure about the material or the stone, we stay on the safe side with a soft microfiber cloth and dry cleaning.
How to Store Them
Keep them separately, in pouches or a box with compartments, or in small bags.
Store chains flat or hanging, so knots do not form.
Avoid humid places. Choose a dry drawer or box.
When to Always Take Them Off
-
Bathing, sea, pool
-
Gym, housework, gardening
-
Sleep
-
Before applying perfume, creams or sunscreen. These go on first, then the jewelry.
